Couch Potato: I Hate Luv Storys

You know I’m not perfect. My name is not even perfect. I am stupid. But if you are with me, then my first and last love story will be perfect.

Lately I’m having this strange addiction with Bollywood movies. After watching the Hindi movie titled 3 Idiots starring Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor, I ended up searching for more Bollywood movies – preferably under the romantic comedy genre. And then, while I was looking at the list of top grossing Bollywood movies, I came across this particular movie with a very intriguing title – I Hate Luv Storys. Well, bukod sa wrong spelling yung “Luv” at “Storys”, medyo na-puzzle lang ako sa title nung movie. I mean, who would hate love stories? Well maybe for a hopeless romantic like me it is impossible to hate love stories, but why hate love stories? And so I went on YouTube to watch the trailer of the film. Here it is:

At first I was like “What the f*** is this?” I mean, hindi ko man lang maintindihan kung anong pinagsasabi nila maliban lang sa mga kaunting english words. Pero catchy talaga yung trailer and I think the main characters are LOVELY! Kahit hindi ko siya gaanong naintindihan, the story looked very interesting. And so I downloaded the whole movie and all I can say is… this movie made me fall in love with Bollywood movies even more!

Meet J (played by Imran Khan). A happy-go-lucky playboy who does not believe in the magic of love and happy endings. According to him, in his film there are only one or two meetings and then… end titles. Which means, he does not believe in long term relationships.

But guess what, he works as an assistant director for Veer, an award-winning director who is popular for his “love story”-themed movies. How ironic right? Hahaha! Kaya naman kahit sukang-suka siya sa love story, he had no choice because it’s his bread and butter and because basically, his dream of becoming a director lies on his apprenticeship with Veer.

However, his views on life, love, and relationships started to change when he saw Simran (played by Sonam Kapoor).

J and Simran are basically the exact opposite of one another. If J hated love stories, Simran LOVED it. Actually, she considers her own lovelife as a perfect love story. She had a perfect family, a perfect career (as one of Bollywood’s art directors), and a perfect boyfriend (Raj). Everything is just perfect… until she met J.

So basically the lives of J and Simran turned into a hodge-podge as they constantly bumped into each other while working for a particular love story movie directed by Veer. Will they end up hating each other or will they eventually find in each other the true meaning of love? 🙂

Honestly, what really lured me to watch this movie is the physical appearance of the main characters, J and Simran. I mean, look at them. They are both eye-candies – they are just so perfect, hahaha!!! Bonus na lang sa akin ang napakagandang storyline plus the superkaduper catchy songs. My personal favorite is Jab Mila Tu. Here it is:

I highly recommed this 2010 film, “I Hate Luv Storys” and I tell you… after watching this film, you’ll never ever think of hating love stories. 🙂
